SOFÍA ALDAY, THE NEW MANAGING DIRECTOR OF CONAFE

Since the last 1^st of September, Mrs. Sofia Alday Martínez de Cestafe is the new Managing Director of Confederación de Asociaciones de Frisona Española- CONAFE.

She is 41 years old, she is married and has three children. She has a degree in Agriculture Engineering, specialized in Animal Production, obtained in 1993 at the Faculty of Agronomy (Polytechnic University of Madrid). She finished off her education with courses on animal breeding at Mediterranean Agronomic Institute of Zaragoza, Complutense University and the National Institute for Agricultural Research and the Superior Technical School of Agronomic Engineers of Madrid.

Her career started with a grant from the Industry, Agriculture and Fisheries Department of Basque Government to develop studies on dairy cattle breeding and she continued at ABEREKIN, S.A.

In June, 1997 she began to work for Conafe, into the Technical Department. In 2001 she was appointed as a Coordinator of Milk Recording and Herdbook where she has developed tasks related to the exchange of information between the Confederation and the Autonomous Associations and Federations as regards Milk Recording and Herdbook. Throughout this time she has been taking on tasks in support of Management and she has been in charge of the implementation and maintenance of Quality Management System, according to UNE-EN-ISO 9001.
